What’s a Zine?
A zine is a handmade, self-published magazine with a strong focus on personal interests and creative design of text, layout, and graphics…
Zines are a fast-growing art form practiced by teens and professional artists and everyone in between. There are national zine conferences celebrating the art form—including the NYC Zine Fest—check it out online at www.nyczinefest.org.

Be Communications LLC partners with the City of Chattanooga Department of Education, Arts & Culture on collaborative community-based ‘zine projects spotlighting local kids and teen writers and artists in a quarterly print publication available for download via the on-demand self-publishing website MagCloud.com beginning in 2010 and print copies are available in limited quantities through the City of Chattanooga Department of Education, Arts & Culture (www.chattanooga.gov).
Kids and Teens design their own PDF ‘zine pages with text, photography, artwork, and graphic design to be included in a collaborative ‘zine issue uploaded each quarter.
Materials deadlines are the first Friday of every month. E-mail your ‘zine pages in PDF file formatting with accompanying text and JPEG images to becommunicationsllc@gmail.com.
