One of the best weekends in Chattanooga is only six weeks away. Art cars will once again roam the streets starting on April 22nd and wrap with our Tailgate Party on April 24th. While the event is free, it does take a lot of fuel and friends to make this event extra special for the children of Hamilton County. Here’s five ways to join the excitement!
Drop by our shop at 1511 Williams Street between 11am – 7pm, Tuesday through Thursday or 5pm-9pm Fridays to help transform an old Saturn Wagon into “Space Oddity”, a rolling tribute to David Bowie. Stay for a minute to add some sparkle or stay longer if you wish. Children are welcome to join when accompanied by an adult. The ground crew wraps on April 1st as we prepare Oddity for her maiden voyage to Houston.
It takes a lot of fuel to put this amazing event together. To date, your generosity has helped us reach over 14,000 children without art in their school. This program is completely organically funded by people like you. If you have supported us in the past, please consider making a child’s day on April 22nd with a donation of $5 or more. Schools and groups that can support an entire school will receive a very special visit in return.
This is an awesome pay it forward opportunity. Schools, organizations, and businesses that sponsor a school get an artist visit of their own as a special thank you. Other perks abound as well. For details, contact Kate Warren directly at katewarren @art120.org.
Make Your Own Mobile Masterpiece
Here’s the secret: if you have an idea, a cause, an organization to support, art, or music to share, you can make an art car! If you can bike it, skate it, drive it, or scooter- deck it out your wheels and join the fun! Have a question? Stop by for some hands on help during Space Oddity Crew hours. All ages are welcome but you must register online by April 1st at http://art120.org/art-car-registration.
If the cars are the stars, its our volunteers that truly make them shine! whether its working with children in the community, meeting new artists from around the country, providing feet in the street, creating cool trophies, or celebrating with us at the art car ball. Sign up today at: http://art120.org/volunteer.
