Missy Crutchfield is a Chattanooga native. She joined Mayor Ron Littlefield’s Cabinet as Administrator for the Department of Education, Arts & Culture (EAC) on July 1, 2005. She has served in positions of leadership in education and the media. Prior to heading EAC, she was Assistant to the Chancellor at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. She has served as Vice President for Institutional Advancement at Chattanooga State Technical Community College. She has also worked as a television producer, reporter and anchor, as well as a radio producer and anchor. In the mid-1990s she served as Executive Director for Chattanooga Venture, a nonprofit organization that headed up the first community visioning process that sparked grassroots civic involvement in Chattanooga’s revitalization. She has enjoyed a long relationship with the arts, and she is widely recognized for her work to improve the quality of life in Chattanooga. She is the founder of Remember Your Dream, an arts incubator program that reaches out to youth at risk. She is the founder and author of “Sisters Speak Out”—a community outreach program and three-act play addressing issues surrounding domestic violence, and means of prevention. Missy enjoys public service and believes the arts can be a powerful force for social good.

Melissa Turner is a Chattanooga native. She serves as Communications Director for the City of Chattanooga Department of Education, Arts & Culture (EAC). She has served in positions of leadership in media and youth development. Prior to working at EAC, she served as assistant editor of Chattanooga Magazine and editor of EnviroLink Southeast. She is actively engaged in community youth programs—such as Writerz Inc.—and educating youth through the arts, communications, and media. She is a writer, founding editor, and co-publisher of Chattanooga Teen Scene magazine. She has served as leader of a faith-based high school youth group—developing artWORKS—a program empowering teens to personally engage in the arts and social justice. As part of “Sisters Speak Out,” she is the arranger of “Sisters Speak Out in Empowerment.”
