Yay! Good for you, but please note this is not really the Church of Elvis, which I created and have spent decades working on. I support spirituality but more importantly, the golden rule. The Church of Elvis is located in Portland Oregon and it probably is something that makes you want to use the name, because it is well known, but really, the Church of Elvis in Portland has nothing to do with Elvis, Tennessee, or Ron Moore. Good luck!!

Hmm, interesting idea! McDonald’s has been out front recruiting kids to eat junk food. About time we do something about this! Retiring Ronald could save a whole generation from this epidemic of obesity and type II diabetes.

For the past fifty years Ronald McDonald has helped hook kids on healthy food, spurring an epidemic of diet related disease. It’s startling that today one in three kids in the U.S. is categorized as overweight or obese and that one in three kids will get diabetes as a result of diet in their lifetime. It’s time for McDonald’s to give their mascot a break from marketing fast food to our children!

Corporate Accountability International also raises some interesting points about the Ronald McDonald House. It has pointed out that McDonald’s claims Ronald as the “heart and soul” of the Charity, seemingly overlooking the thousands of volunteer caretakers who work there as the TRUE spirit of the Charity. They also suggest McDonald’s validate it’s commitment to sick kids by taking the hundreds of millions it spends on predatory marketing and instead invest that in a children’s Charity absent the cross-promotional clown.

Hi Melissa,
I just received a nice note from Missy regarding
the cool things going on in Tennessee.
Good luck with BeMagazine.
Also, I may have lost track, but I think
I dropped the ball on sending you some progressive DVDS.
If so, I’d still like to send some of the recent
films I’ve stumble upon if you’re still interested.
I found a great one on Nobel Peace Prize winner,
Wangari Maathai.
Is the McCallie Avenue address still good?
Kind regards,
Preston

Hi Melissa,
Thanks so much for the link to Be Magazine. It was exciting to see the post. We are moving along and actually have an exhibit scheduled at Chattanooga Theatre Center in conjunction with the play Enchanted April. It is being directed by Bros. Ron from the Community Kitchen so when George Quick asked, it seemed like a natural fit.
Unfortunately, we are not quite ready for sales so the post about art for sale online is a bit premature. Is there a way to take it down? Thanks.
Will keep in touch. I have not forgtten my meeting with Missy and am aiming to one day be a part of working with at-risk chldren. I know the possibilities are endless!
Thanks again for your support.

Melissa, it was good to see you today, great lunch!
I had something I wanted to run past you. At some point you mentioned maybe me having some sort byline on BE and I said yes, if it was correspondent-based for Q/A-Public Forum.
What if such a column was for/about the ARMED FORCES, their Friends, Families…giving them a real voice, linking them with the rest of Community and providing related informational content as well giving the general public a chance to participate and support their events/activities.
This would be after we get the “groundswell” going a bit, things humming along nicely etc.
..Just brainstorming :-)

Melissa and Missy and Jon - I was excited to see your magazine and the Ghandi quote that is the context for it. It resonates with so many of us who use it in very ways ;) Two months ago i saw something that is a bit updated and has a slight twist and expansiveness of this quote ( and trust me, I LOVE Ghandi)
Don Beck , who wrote Spiral Dynamics, says it this way, which i find timely and suits the state we’re in globally, cosmically.
The Quote is : BE THE CHANGE THE WORLD NEEDS RIGHT NOW and he goes around doing that. which is sometimes a bit different and a shift in emphasis, than what i might want to see…it makes me look beyond and into a wider more expansive whole. it’s very contemplative.
It intrigues me because my work is also exploring in the shifting and expanding of consciousness and how we create that in form.
I’m a multi-disciplinary NYC based artist drawing with fire, knives, and thread on paper, making sculptural objects and ever-shifting installations (below sharing exhibition news since Fall ‘ 09 and press) Several of my works on paper and installations are in 2 upcoming exhibitions (Feb – PA, June – NY) details to follow soon.

Hi Missy,
I am the French artist that is being exhibited in Elizabeth Talmadge ’s gallery. I am thrilled to see how well you are doing with Melissa in order to get Chattanooga developps and share and wish I could have met you both.
I know that the city of Chattanooga is aiming to be artisticaly oriented which is great and is also one of the reasons why I decided to come over there with my work!
Therefore, I think that an article and interview from your magazine and radio about Elizabeth’ gallery having succeded in welcoming for the very first time a French artist would be awesome: I could share the article and interview here among my other artists and journalists friends in Paris, helping the connections between cities and countries, and hopefully more foreign artists will come over too.
What do you think about it?
For the interview, as you know, my work is about Love, romanticism, and I would love to share that with your listeners if you think it can be interesting to share with them about that.
Regards,
Rachel Chantal

Dear Missy and Melissa,
Love you concept and would gladly help with imaging needs both with and without a budget. Still trying to entice Goodwill to join the MAINx24 Fashion Show @ The Choo Choo. They are planning a new retail outlet that will open mid-December (story for you there?). I see a promotional opportunity for them in our show.

This is an awesome idea! While I am in “career transition” I have time to do new things and would love to help if you have something I can do. I’m not a city resident, if that matters…
My experience is mostly in photo/web-video and writing, I am learning design at AVA currently. The web site below has portfolios of what I have done in the past, more current work is in my Facebook albums.
