Missy Crutchfield: It’s Time for the U.S. Department of Defense to Review the Unconditional Aid to Egypt

Egypt is being run by the leader of the ‪Military Coup, el-Sisi‬. America sends billions a year to Egypt and it ends up in the hands of this cruel dictator. Because ‪‎Egypt‬ is next to ‪‎Gaza‬, this ‪‎dictator‬ thinks he can do anything he wants– as long as he plays into the hands of ‪‎Israeli‬ ‪‎politicians‬ and ‪‎military‬. He thinks he and his military regime can kill women and children, rape girls and boys– and do anything as long as he is not getting in the way of the Israeli agenda. There is a nightmare going on in Egypt and for the most part the American people and the western world have been silent.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. said, “An injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.”

Our own citizens, Egyptian Americans are facing grave danger, if not death–if they stand up to this dictator el-Sisi. We must stand up to this injustice. We must be the change.

Forbes magazine even recently published a story on the lack of review by the U.S. Department of Defense of the funds, we the people and we the taxpayers, are sending to Egypt to the tune of $1.5 billion a year. However, if you watch mainstream media, it would seem that the people are more interested in learning about what Hollywood celebrities are doing than what is happening to human beings.

Forbes: As U.S. Resumes Military Aid To Egypt, Reports Show How Little We Know On How It’s Being Used

The Obama Administration announced on March 31 that it was reinstating $1.5 billion in military aid to the al-Sisi regime in Egypt. But the State Department has failed to review the aid.

Aid to Egypt is a no-brainer, right? With the government takeover by the military under Abdel Fattah al-Sisi in July 2013, Egypt is again our ideological ally. And, with militants on the warpath in Yemen, Libya and Sinai, we need a strong Egyptian military, right?

But there is a big unanswered question: how, and what for, and just how wisely, will the United States provide the $1.5 billion annually? Little-noticed March reports by the Government Accountability Office (GAO) and Congressional Research Service (CRS) shed a disconcerting light on how the State Department gives security aid to Egypt.

Where is our conscience? Where is our humanity? Demand action in Egypt. Demand el-Sisi be tried as a war criminal and that all aid STOPS NOW IN EGYPT– until we can make sure it goes to the people, or to building schools, education, or feeding the poor.

There is a crisis happening in Egypt and our western media is being quiet and the lies keep mounting.

Call your legislators and demand action for justice in Egypt. Write letters. Repost this. Do the research. One day it could be us that needs help. One day it could be your family. It could be your daughter or son. It could be you… ‪#‎SpeakTruthToPower‬
