Sustainability Series: Ten Years Later, Al Gore Is Leading the Charge in Speaking an Inconvenient Truth to Power

As President Trump signs an Executive Order rolling back the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) among other vital protective measures, there is a resistance movement rising to the occasion and Former Vice President Al Gore is leading the charge in speaking truth to power in his follow-up documentary film, “An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power,” which opens nationwide on July 28, 2017.

It seems like America should have gotten the message ten years ago when “An Inconvenient Truth” swept the nation, but while recent decisions from the White House seem to be rolling back decades of work, Gore’s message remains both urgent and hopeful.

As national media and public attention seem focused on oil prices and ongoing war and conflict in the Middle East, there is a surge in clean energy industry in America. The film features the city of Georgetown, Texas which is operating on 90 percent renewable energy, and soon to be 100 percent. These are the success stories that are not getting the headlines or props in everyday conversation.

Former Vice President Al Gore said, “Now more than ever we must rededicate ourselves to solving the climate crisis. But we have reason to be hopeful; the solutions to the crisis are at hand.”
